First edition, first issue, with the relevant issue points: printed on thicker paper stock, without the advert for The Shoulder of Shasta which appears in later impressions on the verso of the final integral leaf 392, and without the eight pages of adverts inserted. This is the combination of states found in early authorial presentation copies and review copies sent out by Constable.
