Dracula.London: Archibald Constable and Company, 1897 Stock Code: 144732
First edition, first issue, with the relevant issue points: printed on thicker paper stock, without the advert for The Shoulder of Shasta which appears in later impressions on the verso of the final integral leaf 392, and without the eight pages of adverts inserted. This is the combination of states found in early authorial presentation copies and review copies sent out by Constable.
Octavo. Finely bound by the Chelsea Bindery in full mustard-yellow morocco in imitation of the original cloth binding, titles to spine in red and front board in red, single rule to boards in red, twin rule to turn-ins in red, marbled endpapers, gilt edges. Housed in a matching leather entry slipcase.
Some minor spotting to a few leaves else an excellent copy finely bound.
