A superb copy of Remington's depiction of the Old American West
First edition, of this excellent collection of Remington's art, rare in such good, unrestored condition and with any part of the original box. "Remington's paintings of this era are intensely narrative and seek to capture the passing of the frontier for Native Americans and white frontier settlers" (ANB).This work includes peaceful scenes of the daily lives of Native Americans, cowboys, and the military, vivid scenes of hunting and battles, and some line-drawings from Remington's sketch-book. The two plates, "A 'Sun Fisher'" and "A Running Bucker", are reminiscent of his first bronze sculpture, the famous The Bronco Buster (1895).
