Notes

First edition, very scarce first issue unrestored in original boards. Endymion was the second of only three lifetime publications by Keats, comprising his longest single sustained poem, famous for its opening line: "A thing of beauty is a joy for ever". This copy has the first issue imprint to the verso of the half-title "Printed by T. Miller, Noble Street, Cheapside" and the one-line erratum leaf, as well as the tipped-in 5-line errata slip (Hayward notes that the five-line errata, though present in later issue copies, was printed prior to publication, and copies in original boards are known to contain both).
