The recipient, Amory Coolidge (1895-1952), from Coolidge Point, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Essex County, Massachusetts, was the son of Clara Gardner Amory (1872-1957) and Thomas Jefferson Coolidge Jr. (1863-1912), and a descendant of the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826).
Large octavo. Original dark blue cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, gilt and white pictorial design to front board.
Monochrome photographic frontispiece and 49 similar plates, 10 maps and charts (all but 3 folding).
A hint of wear to corners, the binding otherwise sound, internally fresh and clean; a very good copy.
