NotesSecond edition of the author's famous retelling of the Greek myth, inscribed by the him on the front flyleaf: "Robert Bridges / Chilswell / Nov. 1916". In 1907 Bridges used the money left to him by his father-in-law, architect Alfred Waterhouse, to build a house in the Oxfordshire hamlet of Chiswell, where he would live until his death in 1930 after a long illness (ODNB). Eros and Psyche was first published by George Bell and Sons in 1885.
Octavo (176 x 105 mm). Original tan cloth, doric column vignette to front board and spine gilt, titles direct to spine and to japon letterpieces on front board gilt, fore- and bottom edges untrimmed.
Spine very gently rolled, extremities a touch bumped and rubbed, top edge dust-stained, a couple of faint stains to head of front board. A very good copy.
