Hydraulics and ship-buildingFirst edition. On hydraulics, the construction of hydraulic machines, and shipbuilding, illustrated with a fine set of technical illustrations, this work includes the general principles of the resistance of fluids, and of the mechanics of paddle-wheels and their application in mills and pumps. One chapter is devoted to the resistance of fluids against the hulls of ships, another to a machine of the author's own invention for raising water, and the last chapter is on a new form of windmill. Ducrest was an officer in the navy and later in the army, and was chancellor to the duke of Orléans, to whom the book is dedicated.

A little rubbing, an excellent copy.
