Essays in Monetary Theory.London, P. S. King & Staples Limited, 1940 Stock Code: 140302
NotesFirst edition, first impression, the copy of the economist Lionel Robbins, with his pencilled ownership signature to the front free endpaper dated 1940, unfortunately sometime after erased, and now barely legible. A good association nonetheless, as the book includes Robertson's review of Robbins' book The Great Depression (pp. 168-173). The book gathers Robertson's essays, lectures, and reviews, as published in various books and periodical over the 1930s. Robbins, along with Keynes, was the leading British economist during the inter-war period; at the London School of Economics, he "dominated the economics department for thirty years and built it up to its pre-eminent position in British economics" (ODNB).
Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt.
Very minor peripheral wear, light foxing to initial and final leaves, still a very good, bright copy.
