Essays in the Theory of Employment.London, Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1937 Stock Code: 140229
NotesFirst edition, first impression, the copy of the British economist Lionel Robbins, with his ownership signature to the front free endpaper, and a few of his annotations in the form of underlining and marginal exclamation marks. Robbins, along with Keynes, was the leading British economist of the inter-war period; at the London School of Economics, he "dominated the economics department for thirty years and built it up to its pre-eminent position in British economics" (ODNB). Joan Robinson was a prominent Keynesian economist known for her work on Marx and also the economic development of China. In the thirteen essays collected here she applies Keynesian theories to specific issues related to employment, such as how full employment should be defined, disguised unemployment, and remedies for unemployment.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt.
Slight rubbing, lean to spine, else a very good, tight copy.
