First collected edition, reprinting numerous essays contributed by McCulloch to the seventh edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica on economic subjects. The Scottish economist John Ramsay McCulloch (1789-1864) led the Ricardian School after Ricardo's death and maintained the ascendancy of classical economics; his Principles of Political Economy (first published 1825) went through various editions and was the main economic text book of the period.
Octavo (211 x 134 mm). Contemporary brown half calf, black calf label to spine, marbled paper sides, light brown speckled edges.
Recent bookplate to front pastedown, neat pencilled ownership signature to title page, pencilled numerical notes and a drawing of a bicycle's front wheel to rear endpapers. Minor rubbing to binding, light toning and foxing to endpapers and facing leaves, offsetting from turn-ins to title and terminal index page. A very good copy.
