NotesFirst edition, first printing, of the major work on the celebrated Italian medium Eusapia Palladino (1854-1918). In 1908 a team from the American Society for Psychical Research, headed by Hereward Carrington - investigator for the society and amateur conjuror - examined the methods and claims of Palladino. Although the investigators caught Palladino cheating, they were convinced that she could produce genuine supernatural phenomena such as the ability to levitate tables and move curtains.
