Notes

Scarce, OCLC lists six locations. "Gurkha Reid" served under Charles Napier in the Sind campaign. He took control of the Sirmoor battalion of Gurkhas during the Mutiny, who proved their loyalty through their actions in Meerut and were in the fourth column of the 14th September assault on Delhi. After being wounded during the action Reid went on to serve in the Oudh campaign, 1858-9. There is some debate about the date of publication, which does not appear in the book. Reid was awarded his G.C.B. in 1886 and Meisenbach patented a halftone process in Britain in 1882 so we can tentatively date the book to the late 1880s.
