First edition, first printing. Presentation copy inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "To Jimmy ('Four') Starr, my friend and colleague, with regards, Gene Fowler. Sept - 1934." Starr was an American screenwriter, gossip columnist, and film reviewer. Fowler's book is a biography of Mack Sennett, a director and actor active in Hollywood during the 1910s and 1920s.

Spine and edges of boards slightly faded. An excellent copy in jacket with toned spine, a light stain to front flap, chipping along extremities, and a few tape repairs to verso.
