Flesh and Blood.
London: J. M. Dent and Sons Ltd, 1931 Stock Code: 60310
First edition, first impression. With the extensive presentation inscription of the book's dedicatee to the front free endpaper, "My dear Walter de la Mare, It is not sheer vanity that leads me to send you this book, but the feeling that you will value and enjoy its beauty and its subtlety, to say nothing of its fun. Yours Conal O'Riordan 7th February 1931 N.B. It will not be out until next Thursday". A scarce thriller widely considered to be one of Brophy's best books. O'Riordan was a key figure in the Irish theatre in general and the Abbey theatre in Dublin in particular. An actor and playwright. Having fallen out with most of his cohorts in the years before the Great War he turned to writing novels for which Brophy dedicated this work.
