The start of the Victorian ageFirst edition, the premium coloured issue, of this sixty-foot long panorama of Queen Victoria's coronation procession, an attractive coronation souvenir for the public, and a valuable representation of the dress and pageantry of the nobility and foreign dignitaries who attended the procession. Four hundred thousand onlookers watched the procession, heralding the start of the Victorian age.
Oblong octavo. Original brown cloth boards, rebacked at an early stage with beige cloth, front cover lettered and decorated in gilt, metal clasp, title front pastedown, advertisement rear pastedown. Housed in a brown cloth box by the Chelsea Bindery.
Complete, with 33 hand-coloured aquatint panels on a continuous strip of backing cloth.
Front pastedown a little chipped with loss to text, lightly soiled, rubbing around some folds and few very minor peripheral chips; a very good copy.
