Germany's National Vice.London: Quality Press Ltd, 1945 Stock Code: 137683
NotesFirst and sole edition of this highly uncommon and controversial study of the Nazi régime, following the British White Paper Concerning the Treatment of German Nationals in Germany (1939) in implicating the prevalence of "sexual perversion, and, in particular, homosexuality" in Germany for the "otherwise inexplicable outbreak of sadistic cruelty" (p. 7). His chapter titles are certainly lurid: "Moral Perverts in Potsdam", "The Sodomite Trials", "Pederasts and Murderers", "Sexual Maniacs in the June Blood Purge". Samuel Igra (1897-1979), described on the jacket as "a Jew of Polish Nationality", escaped Germany in 1939.
Octavo. Original red cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt. With the dust jacket, artwork by Whyte.
Jacket rather tattered, spine sunned, hole to back panel, binding spine sunned, touch of foxing. A very good copy in the uncommon dust jacket.
