First deluxe edition, first impression, signed by the author on the half-title. The first deluxe edition of Prisoner of Azkaban was issued simultaneously with the first trade edition in July 1999. This was the first deluxe edition of any of the Harry Potter books, with Bloomsbury capitalizing on the surging collector's and gift market for the series.Bloomsbury retrospectively published deluxe editions of the first two books in September 1999, and thereafter issued deluxe editions alongside the trade editions for the future titles.

Large octavo. Original green cloth, titles to spine and front cover in gilt, colour pictorial onlay to front cover, edges gilt, green endpapers, yellow silk bookmark. No dust jacket issued. Housed in a custom green cloth slipcase.
