Hesiod's Crown.Bristol, Woolley Dale Press for the Arnol Fini Gallery, 1984 Stock Code: 104791
NotesFirst edition, from a total printing of numbered 300 copies this is one of the top 100 signed by Tilson and with the additional signed and number engraving included. Tilson takes his theme from the supposed Dionysian contest to establish the true master of Greek poetry, Homer or Hesiod, and through a series of wonderful line drawing and scraps of text traces this notional battle in his inimitable imagery and symbology. This issue with the extra engraving is uncommon.
Small folio. Unbound sheets contained in the original white card portfolio, illustrated by an inscription by Tilson in black green red and blue.
Illustrated throughout and with an original engraving by Tilson laid in.
Portfolio a little dusty but an excellent copy.
