First published edition, later printing, signed by the author on the title page, "Allen Ginsberg 10/13/94, AH". First published in 1956, this landmark collection defined the discontented voice of its epoch for a generation. It was Ginsberg's first regularly published book, preceded only by the privately produced mimeographed printing of the title poem and the obscure Siesta in Xbalba. By this, the fiftieth printing, 745,000 copies were in circulation.
