First edition, first impression, of this collection of poems, with Carpenter's commentary, celebrating homosexual love. The anthology includes excerpts from Ovid, Shakespeare, Tennyson, and Walt Whitman. Edward Carpenter (1844-1929) was a philosopher, poet, socialist, and early activist for gay rights.

Condition

Cloth faintly soiled, minor rubbing to edges, foxing to edges, endpapers, and first couple of leaves, else contents clean and bright; a very good copy indeed.
