Notes

The first and only edition, 10,000 copies in all, but this the deluxe issue in full leather binding. Handsomely presented and produced, this richly illustrated history of the life of Stalin was prepared by the Lenin State Museum (now State Historical Museum). The typography and printing were by the Krasnyi Proletarii - "Red Proletariat" - the Central Committee's main publishing arm, the heavy art paper specifically manufactured by Goznak, the state specialist paper manufacturer, production having been being under the aegis of the recently deceased Andrei Zhdanov, chairman of the Soviet of the Union, "propagandist-in-chief" of the Soviet Union, who had been widely seen as Stalin's successor-in-waiting until his premature, and perhaps suspicious, death in 1948. Extremely uncommon in such good state.
