Notes

First edition. Scarce with COPAC showing only two copies, at the National Library of Wales and UCL, OCLC adds only one at the University of Pisa. The last book published by Williams, an architect who had written several books on slums and working class housing in Britain. He was working as as a consultant for the Egyptian Government when he died in 1918. This book is a short guide to the history and architecture of the city, in which he complains that "much needs to be done to make it salubrious and habitable" (p. 29).
