L'Atlantide.
Roman.
Paris: Albin Michel, 1919 Stock Code: 137050
First edition, first printing, inscribed "A Georges Foussier, de toute ma fidèle sympathie, Pierre Benoit" on half-title. The recipient is the collector and bibliophile Georges Foussier (1890-1979).
L'Atlantide is Benoit's second novel and it was first published as a series in the Revue de Paris from November 1918. The novel, winner of the Grand Prize of the French Academy, was a great success, attributed in part to people's eagerness to escape the memory of the First World War. It was translated into English in 1920 as Atlantida, also serialized for its first publication, and followed by several film adaptations.
