NotesFirst edition in French of the Italian economist's La Felicità pubblica (1769), discussing the states benefits of letting farmers own the land they work, and the scope of that ownership, if granted at all. The pastedowns are title pages for a 1772 Paris edition of Ludovico Antonio Muratori's Traité sur le bonheur public, which was first published in 1749.
Octavo. Contemporary plain drab wrappers reusing publisher's waste as pastedowns, spine reinforced with later marbled paper, untrimmed.
Contemporary ink shelf mark on small paper tab affixed to front pastedown; bookseller's ticket of William Salloch to rear pastedown. Light soiling to wrappers and edges, faint foxing; still, a very good copy indeed.
