First and limited edition in French of Some British Ballads (1919), number 633 of 1,300 copies; there are additional black and white vignettes by Rackham included in this edition. The French symbolist poet Paul Fort translated the original work and added "some completely different ballads" (Riall), drawing on what would become his monumental 40-volume Les Ballades françaises (1896-1958).
Quarto (300 x 230 mm). Contemporary olive-green quarter morocco, titles to spine gilt, central blind tooled leaf motif, marbled sides.
Title page and decorative border to letterpress printed in pale green, 14 colour plates mounted on off-white paper with captioned tissue guards, black and white illustrations in the text, by Rackham.
Light peripheral toning. An excellent copy, with the original pictorial wrappers bound in.
