Claude Tardits (1921-2007) was a French ethnologist and anthropologist specialised in Africa, best known for his thesis on the Bamoum kingdom, published in 1980. He went to study in the US on the advice of his then-professor, Claude Lévi-Strauss, before meeting his future wife, the Belgian artist Claudie Hauferlin, in Mexico.
