First edition of this collection of notes taken from Adam Smith's early lectures. It contains the formative ideas behind The Wealth of Nations. "Based on a set of student notes from Smith's lectures, probably delivered during the session 1763-4, that came into Cannan's hands in the spring of 1895" (Tribe).

Neat pencilled ownership signature dated 1904 to front pastedown. Cloth a little rubbed and cockled, front hinge a little tender. A very good copy.
