"Austin Dobson made the selection for the privately printed edition, and prefixed the prefatory sexain... very few copies were printed" (Murray); the attractive presswork was by the Chiswick Press. London Lyrics was first published in 1857, and went through many revisions and expansions.
This the copy of Baron Mayer Amschel de Rothschild (1818-1874) with his booklabel to front pastedown and the inked note of its place in his Mentmore Towers library.
