First and only edition, relatively uncommon, just a dozen copies on WorldCat. Handsomely produced tribute to the contributions made by the rulers of South Asia to the war effort. Includes brief sections on Ceylon and Malaya. "The services rendered to civilisation through the ages by Eastern peoples have been incalculable, and not least among these services is the part played in the Great War. By their active co-operation with the Allied Nations of the West in their epic struggle for liberty and justice, the Ruling Princes and Leaders of the East have made their latest contribution to the advancement of humanity The East has long been recognised as the home of philosophic idealism. The fundamental issues of the War in their appeal to the highest instincts of altruism, therefore evoked from the East a response that was both spontaneous and unanimous" (from Carnwath's foreword).
