Man, Economy, and State.
A Treatise on Economic Principles.Princeton, NJ: D. Van Nostrand Company, Inc, 1962 Stock Code: 144782
Annotated throughout by a fellow libertarianFirst edition, first printing. The copy of the American libertarian Percy L. Greaves (1906-1984), with his ownership blindstamp to the title pages, and his extensive pencilled annotations throughout the text, often disagreeing quite forcefully with Rothbard. Greaves ran as presidential candidate for the American Party in 1980, and authored several books on libertarian economics.
One of the two defining texts of the Austrian School of economics, along with Ludwig von Mises's Human Action (1949), Rothbard's treatise was described by Mises as "an epochal contribution to the general science of human action, praexology, and its practically most important and up-to-now best elaborated part, economics. Henceforth all essential studies in these branches of knowledge will have to take full account of the theories and criticisms expounded by Dr Rothbard".
Loosely inserted are two newspaper reviews, Manuel S. Klausner review offprinted from the New York University Law Review, and an extract of Rothbard's article "Mercantilism" in The Freeman.
2 volumes, octavo. Original green cloth, spines lettered in silver. With the dust jackets.
Light staining to rear cover and panel of vol. II, jackets sunned and a little worn. A good copy.
