The fourth title published by Arkham House, this volume "contains a good deal of work, a good deal of associational data, and a plethora of information about the late great master of the macabre" (Foreword). Included are "The Mysterious Ship", written when he was not yet ten years old, "The Beast in the Cave", one of his first published stories, "Imprisoned with the Pharaohs", a piece ghost-written for Houdini, examples of his drawings and plans, and several essays in appreciation of his work.
