NotesFirst and only edition, graphic record of the conflict containing horrific images of the atrocities committed by both sides, also a full-page portrait of Kenyatta, "In the world press he was styled 'Burning Spear' Kenyatta... this is a recent picture". South African-born Yowell was the owner of a photographic shop in Nairobi who worked as a freelance photographer when opportunity arose, and drowned in 1956 while guiding a kayak expedition on the Congo River. Scarce, just 5 locations on WorldCat.

A little rubbed and soiled on the wraps, contemporary ownership inscription to the title page, interior a little used, a couple of leaves damp-rippled, but overall a very good copy.
