First edition of this uncommon memoir on the reformation of finances, published two years before the French Revolution, by the jurist and writer Clément de Boissy (1716-1793), also a financial adviser to the last king of France, Louis XVI. The present work, published anonymously, is sometimes found under the author's pseudonym "M. de Fontenay".
