Notes

Deluxe limited edition, number 107 of 780. The first Scott edition was published in 1811; the first English translation from the French appeared almost a century earlier in 1714. An account of Hamilton's brother-in-law, Count de Gramont, and the intrigues of the Restoration court, it is "written with such brilliancy and vivacity that it must always rank as a classic" (DNB). This edition is handsomely presented and extensively illustrated.
