Early edition of Kant's most influential work in the philosophy of science, first published in 1786, in a contemporary German binding, fresh and unrestored.
From the library, with posthumous bookplate to the front pastedown, of German politician Maximilian Joseph Pfeiffer (1875-1926). Pfeiffer served in the Reichstag intermittently from 1907 to 1924 as a member of the centrist Zentrumspartei, for which he was general secretary from 1918 to 1920. From 1912 he was librarian at the court and state library in Munich, and published various works.
Description
Octavo (191 x 116 mm). Contemporary German half sheep, brown calf label, smooth spine richly gilt to compartments, marbled sides and endpapers.
Condition
Binding without wear, light creasing to initial blank, contents with some light browning and foxing; an excellent copy.
