First edition, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed by the author on the half-title: "To Lena Ashwell, who condescended to create Lina Szczepanowska after scorning the Author for years, from Bernard Shaw, 17th May 1914". Ashwell (1872-1957) was a British actress who played the acrobat Lina in the first production of Misalliance in early 1910.
