Notes

One of a series of photos taken by William Amos Haines (1877-1953), who travelled through the United States in the first decades of the 20th century making early panoramas with a rotating Kodak Cirkut camera. He was particularly interested in California's Spanish missions, and took photographs of a number of these sites around 1910. Founded in 1823, Mission San Francisco de Solano was the 21st and final Californian mission, erected as a bulwark against Russian encroachment into Alta California. Restoration was completed in 1913 and today it is part of the Sonoma State Historic Park.
