Montreux '77.Beverly Hills: Pablo, 1977 Stock Code: 144409
Signed cleanly by Flanagan in full, in ball-point pen on the front cover; a surprisingly uncommon signature. Recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the "Detroit master" is supported here by Keter Betts and Bobby Durham (Penguin Guide).
Thomas Lee "Tommy" Flanagan (1930-2001) was a Detroit-born pianist probably best known for his over two decades as Ella Fitzgerald's accompanist; he also worked with Coleman Hawkins for many years, and appeared on Coltrane's breakthrough Giant Steps album. A wonderfully sensitive player, Elvin Jones, who had known and played with Flanagan back in his Detroit years, said of him; "Tommy Flanagan swings so deeply, and he's so compassionate. You can always hear the lyrics when he plays".
12-inch vinyl LP (Pablo Live De Luxe 2308 202), new plain paper sleeve, original album cover; original "Records are a Sound Purchase" sticker on back cover.
Cover and disc in excellent condition.
