NotesFirst edition of this collection of essays and addresses presented at the John Napier tercentenary celebration held in July 1914 in Edinburgh to commemorate the publication of Napier's Mirifici Logarithmorum Canonis Descriptio. The editor was the Scottish physicist and seismologist Knott (1856-1922), who "became a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1880 and its general secretary in 1912, and was a principal founder of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society" (ODNB).

Colour frontispiece portrait, 16 plates, of which 3 in colour or partial colour, and occasional plans, diagrams and figures to text.
Cloth lightly soiled and cockled, spine slightly toned, prelims and endmatter foxed, mild offsetting from frontispiece. A very good copy.
