Sokoloff was a Russian doctor, author, and cancer researcher who was instrumental in drafting the All-Russian Constitution of the Russian Constituent Assembly, the governing body that would later be overthrown by Lenin. After escaping a death sentence, he moved to Paris before relocating to America at the invitation of the Rockefeller Institute.

Octavo (233 x 150 mm). Contemporary burgundy half calf, green morocco labels, gilt titles, tooling and decoration to spine, marble sides and endpapers, top edge gilt.

Condition
With the bookplate of coin collector Charles J. Ricard to the front free endpaper, and the bookplate of Roderick Wetherill Jr., an officer of the United States Army from the Vietnam War, to the front pastedown. Joints lightly rubbed, otherwise a near-fine copy.
