Naval Sketches.
London: Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton, Kent & Co. Ltd, 1908 Stock Code: 84581
First edition. Some very Edwardian naval humour from Valda, an illustrator who worked in Australia for the Sydney Mail for some time; and more literal views of naval life from Hunt, who was a naval surgeon. An attractively, if weakly, produced book. Inevitably uncommon in jacket.
Description
Landscape quarto. Original colour-printed paper-covered boards in the dust jacket.
Illustrations
7 full colour plates, and 2 printed in a single colour, 10 black and white.
Condition
Boards a little rubbed at the extremities, text block - which was rather hopefully wire-stitched through the endsheets by way of "binding" - now loose, but sound in itself, the jacket a little ragged and with some pieces missing, but pictorially and textually complete.
