NotesFirst US edition, first printing. First published in the UK in 1939, No Orchids for Miss Blandish provoked considerable controversy for its open displays of sexuality and violence. Nonetheless it proved highly popular, and a film adaptation was produced in 1948. The novel was included as number 89 in Le Monde's 100 Books of the Century in 1999. This copy is from the library of the renowned bibliophile, Lawrence M. Solomon (1931-2014), with his bookplate to the front pastedown. It was first published in the UK in 1939.
