Anderson described his Norrœna Anglo-Saxon Classics as "the largest and most sumptuous edition of Scandinavian literature ever published outside of Scandinavia". President Roosevelt sent Anderson a letter stating that his set was placed in the most valuable part of his library. The set combines the following volumes: vols. 1 and 2, Saxo Grammaticus; vols. 3, 4 and 5, Teutonic Mythology; vol. 6, The Volsunga Saga; vols. 7, 8 and 9, The Heimskringla; vol. 10, Burnt Njal; vol. 11, The Eddas; vol. 12, Epics and Romances; vol. 13, A Collection of Popular Tales; vol. 14, The Arthurian Tales; vol. 15, The Norse Discovery of America.
15 volumes, octavo. Publisher's deluxe red, blue, or green leather, spines lettered in gilt, elaborate pictorial devices to spines and front panels in gilt, rear panels blocked in blind, top edges gilt, others uncut, largely unopened.
Colour frontispieces with captioned tissue guards, illustrated half-titles, 51 plates with captioned tissue guards, 3 folding maps.
Spines and covers of some volumes sunned, others bright, headcaps with slight rubbing and wear, a couple of marks to spines and endpapers, internally bright and fresh. A very good set.
