First edition, first printing, of the author's first book, of which 1,000 copies were published. This copy has the ink stamp on the front free endpaper of James L. Dickey III, US poet laureate from 1966 to 1968; Bishop had herself been poet laureate from 1949 to 1950.

Spine slightly toned, extremities lightly rubbed. A very good copy in the nicked dust jacket, spine panel chipped at ends with patches of abrasion.
