First collected edition of Bentham's works, edited and partly translated into French by Bentham's collaborator and disciple Etienne Dumont, preceding by 8 years the first English collected edition. "Even in the English-speaking world it was largely through Dumont's versions that Bentham came to be read" (Dinwiddy, p. 293).

3 volumes, octavo (242 x 158 mm). Contemporary half calf and marbled boards, rebacked preserving the original spines, ruled gilt, red morocco labels.

Condition
Bound without the initial blank to volume I. Gilt decoration to spine ends renewed, light spotting throughout, overall a very good set.
