NotesFirst edition, signed limited issue, number 177 of 226 copies signed by the poet and the artist, consisting of 200 numbered and 26 lettered copies. None of the lettered copies were for sale. This was the only collaboration between Sappho Durrell and her father; she was 21 at the time of publication and completing an English degree from York University. Sappho committed suicide in 1985 leaving behind an expansive diary to be published after her father's death, which, when published, led Salman Rushdie to describe her as having "considerable talents, great honesty and no little courage" (The Guardian 1991).
