First edition, first impression, inscribed on the front free endpaper to fellow author and bibliophile "John Baxter, from another fat Englishman, Kingsley Amis".

The recipient John Baxter was also a science fiction novelist, alongside publishing many non-fiction works on science fiction in film, in a writing career spanning over half a century. Baxter recounts the circumstances of his Amis collection being signed in his entertaining memoir A Pound of Paper (2002).

Octavo. Original red boards, titles in gilt to spine. With dust jacket.

Condition

Spine ends a touch bumped, the binding otherwise sharp, faint toning to top edge, else internally crisp. A near-fine copy in the near-fine jacket, faint toning to verso, not price-clipped.
