10 Stories of Flyers and Flying.London: Hamish Hamilton, 1946 Stock Code: 106791
Inscribed by the authorFirst UK edition, first impression, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Frances, with all good wishes, Roald Dahl, March '47". It is, however, probable that this copy was inscribed but never presented, as it bears two ownership signatures of Dahl's first wife, Patricia Neale: first upside down on the rear free endpaper, likely written with the book the wrong way around and so consequently missed by Dahl when inscribing it, and then again at a later date on the front pastedown, in shaky handwriting, as a result of her stroke in 1965.
This is a collection of stories based on Dahl's experiences in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. It was his first book for adults, and second overall. It was originally published in the US in the same year.
Octavo. Original blue cloth, titles to spine gilt. With the supplied dust jacket.
Spine slightly faded, a few light marks and splashes to covers, contents clean and unmarked. A good copy in the price-clipped jacket, with a little chipping to spine ends and one short closed tear, a little minor soiling to rear panel, else bright.
With the exception of framed items*, Peter Harrington offers free delivery on all UK orders of rare books, maps and prints placed through this website. Delivery to USA and the rest of the world is similarly free for orders over £200.
