Playback.London, Hamish Hamilton, 1958 Stock Code: 22860
NotesFirst edition. An unrecorded state of the binding. This edition is known in two publisher's bindings red with silver lettering and red with yellow lettering the former being much commoner than the latter. This blue binding however may well be distinct to the batch of copies sent to Boots as was the case with Le Carre's first two books and several other Gollancz novels. We do not know of other Hamish Hamilton titles distinguished in this way and in the absence of other copies shall refrain from drawing conclusions here.
Octavo. Original blue fine bead boards, spine lettered in silver.
Ex Boots Library with their shield removed from the upper board. Contents a little marked and a few leaves dog-eared, spine very lightly creased and a trifle rubbed. Ink tick to bottom edge.
