NotesFirst pirated edition of Tennyson's suppressed poems, taken from the Poems, Chiefly Lyrical of 1830 and the Poems of 1833, printed by J. Dykes Campbell and sold by the bookseller John Camden Hotten.
Tennyson took legal action, obtained an injunction to prevent its sale, and extracted an apology and 100 damages from Hotten. The book was issued in both green and blue wrappers, without known priority.
Small octavo. Original blue wrappers, front cover printed in black.
Light creasing to covers, very minor chipping at spine ends, else a near-fine, unopened copy.
