From the library of Winston Leyland
First edition, first printing, inscribed with a poem on the half-title, "wet windows / no tears / only rain / January 1978, a 'thread' for Winston from Tom". Two hundred and fifty copies were produced of this finely printed collection of poems. The recipient was Winston Leyland (b.1940), a leading figure in American LGBT publishing who won the Stonewall Book Award in 1980. He established the Gay Sunshine Press in 1975, and his Gay Sunshine Journal (1970-82) was particularly influential for its interviews with prominent gay writers of the era. The copy also has his later ownership inscription. Laid-in is a typed letter signed by Meyer addressed to "Ian", from 1973, but with Leyland's later manuscript note, "(mistake for Ian Young intending Winston Leyland". Ian Young was a collaborator with Leyland in gay literary publishing.Description
Small octavo. Original black cloth, gilt rule to front board, coloured cloth bookmarker.
Condition
Trivial rubbing to tips and some faint marks to covers, but an excellent copy.
